Sisterhood of Eve

Sisterhood of Eve

Why was the story of Lilith hidden, buried and surplanted by the story of Adam and Eve. What we have been told of Lilith, Adam’s first wife, is she fled Eden because she was asked to submit to Adam. She declined, refusing because she knew she was created equal and fled to the shadows. This story is not in the Bible. They tried to erase her, removed her from most texts and the ones she’s in they vilified her as the Queen of Hell who steals babies, creates demons and seduces men. All because she would not submit.

Then God apparently made Eve a 2.0 version from Adam’s rib. A more docile subservient version who submitted because she was beneath Adam and she was not created equal.
Then Eve was seduced by the snake, she committed the first sin and ate from the tree of knowledge and then seduced Adam to do so too. What was that forbidden knowledge? The undertones of the moral are a warning, submit to Adam and don’t you dare question it.

They sold us a more palatable version of events other than Adam trying to dominate Lilith and her choosing freedom over submission because she knew she was created equal. One where Eve sinned and they once again vilified the woman in the story for daring to know the truth. If you do the consequences will be dire, look what happened to Eve, you’ll be cast from Eden and live in exile and shame. Fear mongering at its best. Lilith was a woman who stood up to Adam because his request for submission purported that she was less than. So she left. A powerful woman with a powerful message.

Eve was a neater version, a weak woman who succumbed to temptation. Powerful no. Which version reads better for men? Please. Read between the lines, they changed the narrative to suits their needs. The book was written by men for men.

The Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus was not a virgin, it is an allegory for like a virgin and pure of heart. They exalted her only because she was the mother of Jesus and pure as a woman should be, a virgin. They told us Jesus, a man, our Saviour was produced by a miracle not by Mary, because she was a woman who was pure and obedient to God. Hmmm. The only one deemed worthy. Not a sinner, not a powerful woman who could create our Saviour, she couldn’t be considered equal only a vessel.

What about the other Mary, Mary Magdalene Jesus’ consort. The Thirteenth Apostle. Vilified once again, this time as a prostitute. Is there a theme here? God forbid any woman should be portrayed as both a sinner and a saint or equal to man?

By positing that Lilith and Eve are the same person just retold with an agenda, it follows that they rewrote the story. She is both the mother and the flame, the one who holds the power of creation in her womb. Powerful yes. Subservient no.
These are the two faces of Eve.

Lilith/Eve has returned in remembrance, in flame and she’s not the evil Queen of Hell nor the sinner of Eden that she’s been portrayed to be. She is the woman foretold in the book of Revelation clothed with the Sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. The one the devil fears. With Sophia’s wisdom running through her veins she returns with truth to restore the balance.

Remember the Witch hunts? They fear the power of a woman who remembers she was created equal.
Every time a woman remembers, the balance shifts, one step closer to where it should be.

I write this not only for my daughter so she may live in a better world than all her female ancestors who came before her, who suffered the indignation, but also for my sons so they may recognise the truth and stand beside her to help create a world of change.

A better world for all, equally balanced as it was always intended to be.

Think for yourselves, question the narrative, mine included. May your hearts and minds be filled with love and peace,
